When you rent a car from Payless Rent a Car, you must adhere to the company’s rental policies, which include:

A Privacy policy – Your information will not be shared with third parties, apart from contracted partners for the purpose of delivering additional benefits to you the partner.

A Reservations hold – Payless will have your confirmed vehicle available during normal business hours on the day of your arrival.

A Vehicle hold –  Payless will have your confirmed vehicle available during normal business hours on the day of your arrival.

One way rentals – You can take a one-way rental (subject to availability) on any vehicle. However, this only applies to authorized one-way rentals.

Border crossing – US rentals from Payless may not cross borders into Mexico or Canada unless the renter has obtained written authorization from the rental location. Additional rental qualifications may apply to such permissions.

And No smoking – Payless aims to provide a pleasant car rentals experience for everyone, which is why the company performs an enhanced inspection process. The company will confirm that each car is smoke free before it is provided to a customer. It will once again be inspected on return, and a surcharge of up to $250  will be due if the car requires cleaning to remove smoke residue or odor.  

When you rent a car from an airport location, they may require proof of a return flight to coincide with the rental dates. 

Payless Rent a Car accepts the following credit cards:

Payless will accept debit cards when you rent Economy, Compact, Intermediate, Standard, Full-size, Premium, SUB and Minivan classes only. Your credit score may be subject to review if you use a debit card to rent a car. If you don’t meet the debit card criteria, you may not be able to rent a vehicle, or you may have to present a major credit card registered to your name.

The company will assess the estimated rental amount plus $350 against your debit card or $200 against your credit card at the time of rental. The hold on the funds will be released when you return the vehicle, but the funds may not be available for another 14 days. 

Payless will not take any responsibility for insufficient fund charges, bank fees or returned checks. 

Cancellation Policy

You may cancel your rental up to 48 hours prior to pick-up reservation, and Payless will refund the full amount plus a $50 processing fee.  

No refunds are available for early returns. 

Payless Rent a Car offers a range of insurance options, but you can also append this with your own cover from your personal auto insurance, Rental Liability Protection, or your credit card.

Insurance options include:

• Personal Accident / Effects Insurance (PAE)
• Collision Damage Waiver (CDW)
• Supplemental Liability Insurance (SLI)

To rent a car from Payless, you must:

• Be a minimum of 25 years old.
• Have a valid driver’s license
• Hold a major credit card in your own name

If you are between 21 and 24 years of age, you may hire a car from certain classes, however a daily surcharge of $25 will apply. 

The company may perform a drivers’ license check and may deny a rental if you have a negative driving record.

Additional drivers must meet the company’s minimum age requirements and must also present a valid drivers’ license and credit card. An additional driver fee of $13 per additional driver per day will be charged.

• Child seats are available at $11.99 per day.
• GPS is available at $11.99 per day.
• Certain locations offer a Travel Tab, which is available at between $19.99 – $21.99.
• Ski Racks are charged at $10.00 per day and available at certain locations. 

Disability equipment can only be ordered by phone, and is subject to availability.
